First Digital Retail purchase impressions - Page 1 Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTotQwDzbSaXeFxGUU0qgNFSJ9tTc5i45Wp_0_kkU0eMalhq98F
A true gentleman purchase retail games at the Nintendo eShop

No matter how you feel about digital retail and the current absent of a unified account system, I really appreciate that new digital retail releases receive midnight launch status that they normally won't be at retail stores (unless you leave near Nintendo World Store). As a Professor Layton enthusiast, I definitely want to be a part of that midnight launch event. However, it's not a digital midnight launch event from where I am as that actual timeline is at the east coast. I'm not complaining as I get to download Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask at 9:00pm PDT, Saturday night.

I play the first hour and the download version plays perfectly fine. It took 40 minutes to download completely and the file size requires 6323 open blocks without any problems. I actually took some precautions before downloading such as lowering the brightness and volume all the down. I also didn't use Sleep Mode because there is no telling from the system when the downloading process is complete or an error occur unless I open the system which pause the process. Another factor that might help the polish from the download version is that the game is not as high demand as New Super Mario Bros 2. Not many gentlemen simultaneously downloaded Professor Layton and the fact that most passionate fans don't own a 3DS base on reading their tweets (I'm so sorry).

As for future digital retail purchases, I’m not sure. If Nintendo play their cards right such as more interesting free download games when purchase digital retails and exclusive content, I will purchase more 3DS retails (and maybe Wii U) from the Nintendo eShop. However, when Fire Emblem: Awakening and Animal Crossing: New Leaf arrives on the Nintendo eShop, the servers won’t survive the digital midnight launch.

@nintenbro it is, I'm happy, but my wallet isn't, COP is one of the game I've wanted for so long (since April) but I always forget about, same with Zero Escape....
