eShop: The "Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty" Wii U port is near completion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"In the final steps [of completion]"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A fan recently tweeted to the developers about the Wii U version of "Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty" and asked about the current stage in development of the game.
It looks like it won't take long for the port to be ready, but remember it still has to go through lot check which (I've heard) can take a few weeks.

Review: N.e.o. (Wii U eShop)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Asteroids On Steroids!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Developed and published by Form Up Studios N.e.o. or Near Earth Objects as the game is known as is a love letter to the classic arcade shooter genre and is clearly heavily inspired by the Atari classic Asteroids!
The game does a good job at keeping players entertained with many modes, including an Endless Mode to rack up some incredibly high scores, a classic Arcade Mode with a set number of stages, three lives, and limitless continues and lastly Yolo Mode "You Only Live Once" which is an unforgiving mode where players are only given one life and zero continues to beat the Arcade Mode!
There's not a huge selection of enemies, but the ones that are there are quite varied. The game also features spreadshot and barrier satellite power-ups which will prove to be very useful when the going gets tough!
The controls are fairly good, though it takes a while to get used to. The Off-TV-Play is also a nice feature that we're always glad to see in a game!
Visually the game looks incredible in a retro kind of way! Sure the graphics are minimalistic, however the special effects such as neon explosions, flashes, etc. look fantastic! The audio is quite a treat as well, with a fantastic sound-track and superbly retro sound effects you'll feel like you're in a 80's/90's arcade!
Bottom-Line:
With fantastic gameplay, tons of game modes, and an amazing audio-visual presentation N.e.o. is one fantastic arcade shooter for the Wii U eShop that you shouldn't pass up, and though the controls aren't easy to master, it doesn't ruin the experience in the slightest! Overall we give N.e.o. "Near Earth Objects" a great level of recommendation!

Review: Momonga Pinball Adventures (Wii U eShop)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Solid, Yet Bumpy Adventure!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Developed and published by Paladin Studios, Momonga Pinball Adventures for the Wii U is a pinball game featuring a squirrel. Much in the veins of Sonic Spinball this pinball title has a campaign packed with nine stages and ten accomplishments. The game is good for the most part, however it falls short of being anywhere near as good as Sonic Spinball or Mario Pinball Land.
The gameplay is decent enough with some of the stages being fairly large, however there aren't many stages and you are forced to play each stage multiple times in order to beat them. The game features voice acting as well, but it can get extremely annoying at times, luckily you can skip the story scenes if you want to.
The controls are fairly responsive and easy to learn which is a very good thing in a pinball title! The game also features Off-TV-Play which is nice, though we did experience some audio issues through the Wii U Gamepad's speakers.
Visually the game looks decent enough, it won't wow you, but the character models, pinball machines, and cut-scenes all look nice. The music can be somewhat annoying and as we said before, the voice acting is pretty bad. Overall the visuals are good, but the audio is definitely below average.
Bottom-Line:
With solid, albeit repetitive gameplay, excellent controls, and nice visuals Momonga Pinball Adventures can be a fun experience at times, however audio issues with the Wii U Gamepad, an annoying audio presentation, and a lack of content seriously hamper this game, though it still is fairly decent, which is why we give Momonga Pinball Adventures for the Wii U eShop a decent recommendation!
Price: £4.99/€5.99/$5.99

eShop: Gunman Clive HD Collection Only Sold Around 9,000 Units On The Wii U
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gunman Crying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bertil Hörberg recently talked about sales for his game Gunman Clive HD Collection which hit the Wii U eshop in North America last September and the sales numbers aren't good at all. Amazingly Gunman Clive HD Collection still earned profit for his company and the Wii U version outsold the Steam version by a large margin.
This is a qoute from his recent discussion about Gunman Clive HD Collection:
Bertil Hörberg wrote:For some slight bit of context Gunman Clive HD Collection has sold about 9000 copies so far (not counting japan, for which I don’t have numbers yet but the initial reports were not very encouraging).
Not an amazing number by any means still profitable by most measures: And also I imagine there’s a pretty big overlap of 3DS and WiiU owners so it’s not a big surprise that people aren’t double dipping.
It’s about 10x the sales of the Steam release of GC2 however. Admittedly I’ve done an even worse job at promoting that release though and also don’t have many press contacts who focus on PC.
Do you hope that Hörberg Productions will continue to support the eshop in the future? We would love to see your thoughts below!

Review: Discovery (Wii U eShop)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Discovering Strange New Voxels!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With Minecraft: Wii U Edition already released how does Noowanda's voxel crafting cousin stack up against its older relative? Continue reading our review to find out!
First off the game emphasises on the creative aspect of the genre so don't expect any survival mode or anything. This is not all bad as the game gives you plenty of tools to be creative. The lack of Off-TV-Play and simplistic use of the Wii U Gamepad is a bigger issue in our opinion.
The size of the biomes is incredibly large compared to Minecraft, though it's supposed to be infinite, we doubt that's actually the case, but it's so huge that chances are, most people will never discover the end of their maps!
The biome creation is somewhat simplistic and there are only three biome types, but each randomly created biome is way different than any other so if you don't like your current biome, just create a new one.
Visually speaking Discovery actually seems to be superior to Minecraft: Wii U Edition. The lighting effects and textures both seem more detailed in Discovery. The day and night system is also visually impressive.
In-terms of the audio the sound effects are fairly basic, but the soundtrack is nice, mellow, and fits the game well.
Bottom-Line:
With solid, albeit limited gameplay, excellent visuals, and simple yet effective audio Discovery is a decent game that is as expansive and unlimited as the human imagination, however the lack of Off-TV-Play and useful implementation of Gamepad features is a real letdown, however we still feel that this game is quite good, so we give it a solid recommendation!

Review: Nova-111 (Wii U eShop)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Turn-Based Space Exploration!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Space, the final frontier! A normally lonely place devoid of any life besides some vacuum-resistant bacteria, however in the wacky universe of Nova-111 this is far from being true! You must rescue scientists and avoid objects and terrifying space monsters in a turn-based fashion. This is one heck of a unique title that we thoroughly enjoyed, but how does Funktronic Labs' space adventure stack up against eShop greats such as Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet? Keep reading to find out!
Nova-111 is quite an unusual beast in that it is part puzzler, part adventure, and part strategy title with a dash of RPG thrown into the mix. In Nova-111 you control a ship that is on a rescue mission to save other scientists that are scattered throughout certain areas in space. You move in a grid and each time you move is considered a turn. In some cases you'll want to destroy enemies, but in others you'll want to strategically avoid them to avoid certain death.
The overall length of the game is decent enough and the difficulty is somewhat challenging later on in the game, but nothing really had us stumped in this game. The Gamepad features in Nova-111 are excellent, although they pale in comparison to the brilliant use in Affordable Space Adventures.
Visually the game looks great! It isn't going to knock anyone's socks off, but the art-direction is still superb. The soundtrack is excellent and really adds to Nova-111's atmosphere. Overall the audio-visual presentation is amazing!
Bottom-Line:
With excellent gameplay, great use of the Wii U Gamepad, and a superb audio-visual presentation Nova-111 is a great game that will provide gamers with hours of fun! We definitely recommend the game to all fans of the strategy genre!

Nintendo Network: Extended Maintenance Set To Occur On January 11th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More Stability?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nintendo and scheduled maintenance occur quite frequently so normally when it is announced we don't think much of it, but next week's maintenance is slightly different. Normally the maintenance only lasts 1-5 hours, but next week some of Nintendo's online services will be down for 10+ hours.
The maintenance will last from Monday, January 11 at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern until Tuesday, January 12 at 3am Pacific / 6am Eastern.
For Europe the maintenance will last from Tuesday, 12 January at 1am UK / 2am CET to Tuesday, 12 January 11am UK / 12pm CET.
Do you think that it might have something to do with Nintendo's upcoming rewards service? We'd love to see your thoughts in our comments below!

Ackk Studios YIIK Title Coming To Wii U At The Same Time As Other Platforms
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Get ready to game like its 1999!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ackk Studios interesting looking game YIIK (Y2K) is coming soon to a WiiU Console near you. This news comes from twitter where Wiiwarewave asked the studio whether or not the studios' new title would be hitting the console at the same time as the other platforms.
As you can see the answer was a Yes. It’s nice to see a Multiplatform title released on the WiiU at the same time as the other consoles. Games like, Assassins Creed 3, Watch Dogs, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Deus Ex Human Revolutions are all examples of games that came to the console long after they were originally released.
YIIK so far is looking like a great title and the story seems interesting. We are not sure yet if the game will be a retail or Digitally Downloadable title as of yet so stay tuned for more information. YIIK is scheduled for release in February of 2016. Visit the website for more information on this title.

BREAKING NEWS: Tomorrow is Poképalooza on the Nintendo eShop
Gotta Catch 'Em All!Since the introduction of the Nintendo eShop, fans have clamoured for rereleases of their favourite classic Pokémon titles to play anytime. Nintendo, in conjunction with The Pokémon Company International, has declared tomorrow, April 2nd, as Poképalooza, which will finally bring over 15 games to the Nintendo eShop on both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U around the world, as well as finally establishing other long-requested consoles to the service.
For those in doubt, Pokémon Red and Blue will be included in the offerings, meaning that Nintendo 3DS owners will at long last be able to play the original adventures. They are the first games in the new 3D Classics Combo range, which include two titles in one package: Pokémon Red Version + Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Green Version + Pokémon Silver Version! These games are faithful recreations of the original games, complete with full link-up options including the ability to trade or battle with other owners of a game; the sequels even retain the Time Capsule feature, which can be utilised with the save file of the first game in the same package! Finally, the sequels include the female character from Pokémon Crystal Version as a player option, as well as adding a new female character in the original titles, at long last allowing for girls to not have to play as a boy.
Wii U owners will be treated to Pokémon Stadium Plus, a compilation of the first two Pokémon Stadium games for Nintendo 64, which includes full compatibility with the 3D Classics Combo titles on Nintendo 3DS. Both Stadium titles are brought to life in every detail from the originals, with everything exactly the way you remember it from childhood. As a bonus, the package includes a new Pokémon Snap title, Pokémon Snap Frontier, which provides the player with eight areas inspired by the Nintendo 64 original in which they can take photos of over 100 different Pokémon from Generations I and II. Speaking of Pokémon Snap, it is the first Nintendo 64 title to be added to the Virtual Console service on Wii U, and will be joined by two Pokémon-themed Nintendo GameCube games as well, such as Pokémon Colosseum, the first full Pokémon adventure to appear on a home console.
Finally, digital rereleases of Nintendo DS games will be added to the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS, in much the same manner as Wii titles on Wii U. The first main offerings will be Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, the flagship games from the Pokémon franchise's Generation IV, and will retain local wireless multiplayer but not online play. A Wii game, Pokémon Battle Revolution, will also be added to the Wii lineup on Wii U, and will be fully-compatible with both the digital and original cartridge versions of Diamond and Pearl, as well as Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver.
A full list of releases is detailed below:
Nintendo 3DS
●3D Classics Combo: Pokémon Red Version + Pokémon Gold Version (Nintendo 3DS Download)

Review: Falling Skies: The Game (Wii U Retail)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Esphani Invasion!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Published and developed by Little Orbit Games, Falling Skies: The Game is based on the hit TNT drama Falling Skies and is a Strategy RPG with many unique features, but are these features enough to allow the game to live up to the high expectations that the fans of the TV series have for the game? Keep reading to find out!
Falling Skies: The Game's story takes place between the third and fourth seasons of the series and is entirely unique making it a good way to fill in the gap between the two seasons of the show. The story takes place over a good deal of missions with long periods of time between story missions and mission briefing scenes which isn't ideal by a story-telling standpoint, but it does work as an incentive to progress further into the game!
The game is separated into a base headquarters and squad mission maps. At headquarters you can purchase upgrades, recruit new warriors, view a list of injured units and how long they'll be unable to participate in missions, and there's a memorial to see which of your comrades have fallen in battle. You can also dispatch a unit on a gathering quest to gather materials while you play through squad missions! The squad missions take part on a large map that has the traditional movement and attack grid that most strategy RPG's possess and you must use cover to prevent enemies from inflicting too much damage on your units!
There isn't a huge amount of enemy types so battles can be somewhat predictable, however the strategic elements of this game bring some much needed depth and make up for this shortcoming. After each mission your units gain experience and levels which allows you to teach them new skills from their skill tree. There are a handful of different classes each with their own unique skills which will be important to use in order to survive missions. The game could use a few more classes though as there aren't enough in this game, however it isn't a game-breaking issue. After missions you'll also receive new upgrades to purchase which range from weapons, armor, and ammo, to medical supplies and passive status boosts! These upgrades "especially better ones later on" can take numerous missions before they are finished and can be used in missions so careful planning should be made as to which upgrades you should purchase next!
The controls of the game are spot-on and are intuitive and easy to learn which is a must for any strategy RPG! The Off-TV Play also works perfectly and is a great feature for those who don't always have access to a television set!
The graphics of Falling Skies: The Game aren't the greatest, but they get the job done with reasonable 3D character and enemy models and passable special effects, but the music is incredible and will be instantly recognized by fans of the TV series and fit the game perfectly! The game also features voice acting from the actors of the TV series which is a nice touch though it would have been even more amazing if the game used the story dialog more often.
Bottom-Line: With solid gameplay and a unique story Falling Skies: The Game is a decent game for fans of the Hit TV series and the soundtrack is absolutely incredible! Though the game isn't without some flaws as a lack of character classes and disjointed story definitely don't do this game justice and the visuals could have been much better, though if you're a fan of the series we still give this game a solid recommendation!
