News: Nintendo Set To Announce Their Next-Gen Hardware During This Fiscal Year! Switch11

Nintendo just announced today, that their next generation hardware will be officially announced and revealed later in the current fiscal year! Here's the announcement:

Shuntaro Furukawa: wrote:“This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.”

It is worth bearing in mind that the current fiscal year ends on March 31st 2025 so it isn't guaranteed that the Switch's predecessor will even be announced in 2024 let alone release this year. It appears fairly likely that the next generation hardware will be releasing in the second half of 2025!

What do you guys think of this bombshell announcement? Also, what are your hopes for the upcoming hardware? As always, be sure to let us know in our comments section below!

@KokorOtaku And please be fully backwards compatible with the current NSO games and consoles. I don't want to wait for Nintendo to drip-feed us their classic games for a fourth time. As long as it keeps resetting every generation we're less likely to get more obscure first and third party games on the service...

@KokorOtaku @KeAfan7 And please have a brand new mainline 3D Mario game as a launch title for the first time since the Nintendo 64! victory

(Unless you count the DS, even though its launch title is an enhanced remake of the N64’s launch title, so it counts but also doesn’t count, which is a paradox of mind-bending… ow, my frontal lobe and its various cortices! dizzy)

“If ya ask me, it DOESN’T count, so yer pair o’ dogs are safe!” Mad

Yeah there’s no reason in this day and age that at least our digital library shouldn’t carry over indefinitely be it the Switch 2, 5, or 7
