Will 2012 be the end of the world?

I don't think the world will "end" but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if World War III starts by the end of 2012

What are your thoughts

At first, I thought that it would never happen, since there were so many theories about the end of the world like the whole Y2K thing, but then I started to get a little worried, since there were so many earthquakes that really affected other countries, for example the one from Haiti, one in San diego, one in Spain and obviously the one in Japan... all of them happening (according to my whole life experience) in a short time compared on the times that an earthquake normally happens every once in a lifetime...

I don't know. It might. I heard predictions that the end of the world is preceeded with natural disasters. Last couple of months we have our fair share of disasters and with the ozon layer and the weird climate who knows wat lies ahead. Is it the end of the world? Is it the beginning of a new ice time? Is it the start of World War III or the beginning of an alien invasion? Only time will tell, but I love all the movies, stories and predictions around it.

On side note, I am happy that it's the 21 December of 2012. My birthday is on 20 December, so it's good that I at least have a bit of fun before the world ends .

I highly doubt it. The bible speaks in the manner of time relative to God. A day for us is a thousand years for God. I don't see the apocalypse happening in such a short period of time. (<:

Well Sneaker, you did mention that it has been predicted that the world would end following natural disasters. And that prediction is from the Bible my friend. So if you believe that then you are slightly religious, am I correct? And natural disasters have been more common place since the early 1900's, so who knows how long it'll be before the apocalypse begins. On the other hand, the Bible also states to watch for the changing skies. (<:

Well Sneaker, wherever you've obtained that information is completely inncorrect. The Mayan calendar ends by 2012, so how could they have predicted what would occur in that year? Ummm... That really doesn't make any sense at all my friend. How about it doesn't and we can say it did? lol

People just assume that because the Mayan calendar ends on december 21st 2012 that means the world will end
The thing is, however that the calendar is updated every 500 years or so by the Mayans but the mayans were wiped out a long time ago so the calendar wasn't able to be updated

I really don't believe the world is ever going to end. However, I do believe this system of things will come to it's demise.

That information is not completely incorrect. The Mayan calandar ends by 2012 because that's when the current and 13th baktun ends and the next one begins. However, in the Mayan book of creation Popol Vuh, it describes the gods creating three worlds but all failed and were destroyed. We are now in the fourth world, which will end at the start of the 14th baktun, which happen to be at December 21 2012. It will end with the destruction of the world in the form of a great flood (which was shown graphically in an acient Maya Temple). The Maya's made several predictions, one of which is that the period before December 21 2012, will see many natural disasters in the form of tsunami's, vulcanic eruptions and earthquakes and looking back the last couple of months, they might just be right.
