It's a new RPG by Level-5 which gives you the freedom to play however you want to play. This page has a bunch of info about it, as well as screenshots and videos. Prepare to be mesmerised:

Apparently in Japan, the base game didn't have online multiplayer, but was added in the expansion pack. It looks like the international version has online play built-in, so there's no need to get the expansion just so you can play online! If I like the base game, I might get the expansion anyway, which has new areas and quests, but the thing that grabbed my attention is that I can have a pet dragon in the expansion! I could, therefore, play a Fantasy Life version of Zed.
