Slight Computer Problem
August 17th 2012, 9:43 am
Wondering if anyone can help me on this one. For weeks now when my computer goes into sleep mode or I play something in Fullscreen mode like World of Warcraft when I close out the program or wake my computer from sleep mode my Desktop along with all the icons seems to have shift to the left about six inches to where I have black running down the right side of my screen and all my Icons and the start menu is cut off.
The only way I have found that I could fix it is if I restart my computer than the desktop imagine and everything will be back to normal. I have automatic updates for my video drivers so they are all up to date I tried moving the desktop but it wont move its almost like its out of alignment.
So I was wondering if there is anything else I might do to be able to fix it.

That sound like a virus my computer got a few months back.
If it's the same problem you're up creek with playing games, but it shouldn't cause issues with web browsing.

I ran both my antivirus and Malware Bytes and nothing was detected.

Tasuki, prior to scanning your harddrive, did you make sure your MalWare & Antivirus definitions are up-to-date?
Edit: I ask, because I believe your computer should've already alerted you. By the way, what Antivrus and Malware program(s) are you using to protect your computer?

Ah... Free Edition? How long is your trial period for? It may not be a virus or malware. Specific files may actually be out of que, and can't synchronize correctly. Other than that, I have no idea. I'm not really a computer technician, so I can only try to help you out my friend.
Edit: Did you try to defrag your harddrive yet?

Certain viral bugs go undetected, so it could be a virus. Then again, could also be a simple file out of place as stated above. The only recommendation I have is going back to an earlier date. Maybe something updated without you knowing which messed it up. Good luck.

Ultanium, that is, if Tasuki previously created a restore point. Good advice, though. Restore points completely slipped my mind.

I forgot to mention the existence of a restore point. >.< But yes, if you have a restore point set then you should be fine. I'd recommend consulting a specialist at some point if all fails.

Awesome stuff Tasuki! I'm guessing it was a certain update or install that messed with your computer. Regardless, I'm super glad you fixed the problem.

Well I know that I had to update my vid drivers but I dont remember if the problem started after the update or not. So it could have been a bad file with the update but whatever its fixed for now thats all that I care about.
Thanks again guys.
