I am super excited to see what new things I can do in the next game

Played the last three games, but City Folk made me cringe. It was still Animal Crossing, but it felt like little more than restarting Wild World in the big screen for $49.99. It looks like the new game will have worthwhile additions this time, so I'll be buying day one or at least reading plenty of reviews.

There hasn't been any announcements to what is back and what isn't. But you can expect Holidays like July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Labor Day to return. Along with new Holidays as well.

Why wouldn't Christmas or Halloween return? Aren't they international holidays?

They were removed from Wild World and then returned in City Folk. They may leave again but to answer your question: No. lol

I will probably end up getting this game. It should be a lot more fun now that I know some people that i can play online with. Hopefully they make some changes to the game. It would be nice to have more interaction with online players.

Yeah, I'm hoping the online features are better this time around. Not that they were terrible before or anything, but I'd like to be able to do as much as possible, preferably with support for an extra person or two (someone always ended up left out during my days of Wi-Fi dealings).

WiiWare Wave meet ups should be fun.

Animal Crossing was never about the online/multi-player, IMHO. Even though I'm going to play it online, it's not what's important to me. lol

I too prefer the single player since there's more than enough to do for over a year, but I still appreciate the change of pace and feeling of newness that comes with visiting other towns. It never really gets old if you keep switching it up.

It looks like this game will be released in Fall 2012 in Japan.

I guess that means America won't be getting it until then either (unless I'm pleasantly wrong). A summer release date would have been nice, but at least that gives more time to polish the game.

Has it been confirmed for the game to be released in Japan before the U.S.?

In comes out Q3 in Japan, so we should get it a few days before/after they do.

I just read an article that says we'll be able to watch a few episodes of Pokémon, old episodes of Nintendo Week and a handful of Nintendo Videos on the TV's and hear 3DS Show news clips between songs on the radio. Of course this might be lies, but it sounds like something Nintendo would do. lol
The bigger question is why would this even be considered newsworthy?

Sorry to revive this topic, but why hasn't there been any updates on this game on this forum? There have been loads of scans over the summer and this game, imo, looks amazing so far. According to the scan released this week, you apparently oversee the planting of a "Village Tree" and can even hold items such as an ice cream cone and even a cup of coffee in your hand.

How do you think you guys would react, if there wasn't any Spot Pass or Street Pass features?

Well, there was a huge Nintendo Direct dedicated to Animal Crossing 3DS earlier today and loads of new footage and gameplay was shown and Streetpass is indeed part of the game. Here's the link if anyone wants to see the full conference:

There's been a whole slew of information released and found by the fans of the series. I'll list them:

- You can seemingly choose your character's eye color. This leads most to believe that you'll be able to determine your character's facial features rather than asking a set of questions. It'll take too long just to answer questions to determine every feature of your character.

- You're able to select the type of town you want to live in. Whether it be a "Morning Town", "City that Never Sleeps" or even "Most Beautiful". These seem to correlate to stores opening early, stores keeping open late and the town making it easy to grow flowers and plants. Another choice is living in a "Rich Town"

- New Fruits include Bananas, Lemon and a new type of cherry. Fruits also ripen and come in various forms. Here is one example regarding an orange and apparent ripening cherries:



-Animal Pictures make a return after being absent from City Folk

-Though it wasn't highlighted, slingshots are back so that means balloons and misc. objects will be able to be shot down from the sky.

- New shark or fish species discovered.

- You are able to display KK Slider's Album Art on Walls

- "Massage lady" allows you to visit a "dream" version of a person's town you met via Streetpass. You cannot affect their town by chopping trees and the like. But rather look around and explore the town.

- On the bottom screen, you can easily display emotions on the fly. There's also a substantial amount of emotions available and you no longer are forced to only have 4. You can learn ALL of them.

I saw iwata running around in the trailer

Anyone importing a version of this game? The Japanese version comes out in less than a week Also, Famitsu, gave it a 39/40, which is a very good sign for the game.

And fyi, the game is called Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the US version.

Man it's times like these I wash my eShop would change regions... I'm going all digital and if I had known that I could have this option before I would've imported my 3DS

Even if you did have the game, would you even enjoy playing it unless you know how to read Japanese?

Unfortunately, all we know about the US release date as of now is the "first half of 2013", which I'm guessing means around April/May

I rarely read in games so I know I'd enjoy it, and may e use a walkthrough for the needed stuff
