Review: Company of Heroes Collection (Switch Retail)

Heroes Making A Splash On The Other Side of The "Big Pond"!

Developed by Feral Interactive and published by SEGA, Company of Heroes for the Nintendo Switch is yet another so-called impossible port for the Nintendo Switch, but in a different way than usual. Having been initially a PC game, the UI, hotkeys, and much more had to be optimized for the Nintendo Switch's array of controllers, did Feral Interactive hit the mark with this port? We think so and here's why:
The story in this real-time SRPG is great and seems to be a fairly accurate representation of war which is what you'd expect from a veteran development team. The gameplay is fantastic with a ton of strategic options at your disposal which can make or break your bid to survive the game's challenging battles victorious! The game has tons of content with dozens of hours of challenging stages.
The game is also quite challenging at times so don't expect the game to be a cakewalk. The controls are actually pretty good and made the transition from PC to controller quite well with great button-mapping and responsive feedback. Overall this aspect of the game is near-flawless!
The audiovisual-presentation in Company of Heroes: Collection is pretty good for such an old title, with good world design, and fantastic special effects for a game of its time. The character models are a bit low-poly, but that's to be expected. The battlefields are also quite large and look nicely detailed. As for the audio-presentation? The sound effects and voice overs are excellent, and the soundtrack is pretty good as well if a bit limited.
Bottom-Line: With accurate and enjoyable story-telling, great gameplay, superb controls, and an excellent audiovisual-presentation, Company of Heroes: Collection for the Nintendo Switch is a fantastic Real-Time SRPG that no adult gamer should miss out on and as such we give the game a great level of recommendation!
