In case you all forgot the Nintendo eShops on both the 3DS and Wii U will be shutting down in less than 10 days. Obviously you can't add funds via redemption cards anymore, but your funds added to your Nintendo Switch can still be used on the 3DS and Wii U eShops to make purchases through March 27th of 2023. Also keep in mind that free DLC will also be unavailable after March 27th including the assets packs for Xenoblade Chronicles X that make the physical version of the game run smoothly and drastically reduces loading times for the game so be sure to snatch those up before the deadline if you ever plan to get the game physically!

Nintendo's Asian social media accounts have outed the exact release time for Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass and its likely a bit earlier than most of you were expecting! According to the post the DLC will be releasing at 10:00AM on March 9th in Japan, which would put the DLC's release at 5:00PM PST / 8:00PM EST on March 8th in the US! Celebrating Mar10!

Nintendo has just announced the release date of Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe BCP and it's likely MUCH sooner than you'd expect! The DLC will be officially releasing on Mar10 Day in Japan, which is March 9th in the West, well unless you live down under or are a Kiwi, but we digress. The official tracks are as follows:

That's it folks! The only thing to note is that if the previous track list leak is to be believed then Mario Circuit is the final DS track coming in the BCP which as fun as it looks, is a bit of a disappointing note to end on since Shroom Ridge and Waluigi Pinball already released in earlier waves and are arguably MUCH better DS tracks, but other than this the next wave is looking it'll be a fun one to ride!

Bandai Namco has given some new details regarding the remasters of Baten Kaitos I & II, including 30 FPS frame-rate, 2K resolution, no cut content for the Western release this time, and 30 save slots for each of the two games. That's not all, however...as they also confirmed that the English voice acting has been omitted from the collection as Japanese is the only language listed for the spoken dialog. Three Cheers For The Return of The Bird...O?!

Nintendo gave viewers a preview of Wave 4 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass today during their Nintendo Direct broadcast and showcased a new Yoshi's Island themed track which appears to have multiple environments including a beach, underwater section, a forested area, a mountain climb, and a sky section. Another BIG reveal was the return of Birdo who will be added to the game complete with various color choices just like Yoshi and Shyguy possess in the game. The DLC still has no concrete release date, but is still confirmed for release later this Spring.

In a surprise announcement Nintendo has released Gameboy/Gameboy Advance games on the NSO service. The Gameboy games appear to have the GBC enhancements as well as color filters and are available to all NSO subscribers, whereas the Gameboy Advance games are exclusive to NSO + Expansion subscribers.

Pixel Extravaganza!

Square Enix has finally announced Switch and PS4 ports for their Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles and they are releasing in a physical collection in both a Standard Edition ($74.99 / £64.99) and Collector's Edition ($259.99 / £244.99). Below is what comes with Collector's Edition of the game.



Both versions of the physical release will be exclusive to the Square Enix Store. The Standard Edition is already sold out as of the time this article was written. We'll let you know if or when it's back in-stock! The games will also be made available digitally together or individually on both the eShop and PSN.

Nintendo has confirmed that wave 2 of their Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8: Deluxe will drop onto the Nintendo eShop globally next Thursday August 4th! There are a few surprises in the next wave including TWO courses that are not yet available on Mario Kart Tour including GBA: Snow Land, and the all-new course Sky High Sundae which even has a large anti-grav section. Sky High Sundae will be released soon afterwards on Tour, but will likely be edited as Tour does not possess the anti-grav feature.

Physical Kholat!

Red Art Games has announced that online pre-orders for the physical boxed version of Kholat on Nintendo Switch are available now, with a limited edition of 3800 copies with a price of €29.99/£27/$35.

Billed as the most terrifying journey of your life, Nintendo gamers can experience this epic adventure game, which was created by Polish indie developer IMGN.PRO and narrated by famous British actor Sean Bean.

Kholat was previously released on PC /PS4 /XB1, where it sold over 700,000 units across those three platforms and accumulated over 3.5M users, becoming one of the most popular indie horror games. Kholat is an exploration adventure game with elements of horror inspired by the event known as Dyatlov Pass Incident. The player will plunge directly into the boundless scenery of the inhospitable Ural Mountains with the task of finding out what really happened. Controlling the main character you trace the steps of a group of nine Russian college students who went missing in February 1959 on Kholat Syakhl.

Kholat is told through a first-person horror adventure framework and presents an atmospheric storyline of intrigue and mystery. PR Hound has struck once again with another surprise announcement and it's another big one! TAITO has teamed up with Strictly Limited Games once again to bring the Switch title, Space Invaders Invincible Space to the west in physical form. There will be three limited editions available exclusively from Strictly Limited Games' website here. Sadly there is no digital version planned at present, but we'll let you know if that changes!

PR Hound has announced in a recent press release that the cancelled 90's Run 'n Gun action platformer, Ultracore is being revived for PS4 and Switch and will be releasing digitally tomorrow! The game is being backed by Strictly Limited Games and ported by ININ games in conjunction with the original development team. Originally meant to be released over 25 years ago by Digital Illusions, now known as DICE, but was later cancelled.

Sci-Fi Zelda Meets MMORPG In This Thrilling Epic You Can't Miss!

CrossCode is a retro-inspired 2D action JRPG that is said to "combine a captivating storyline, with realistic physics and worlds that offer a fast paced combat system and lots of puzzle mechanics. Putting it simply, it's a game not to miss!"

Deck13 , ININ, Radical Fish Games, and PR Hound have stated in a press release that "CrossCode for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 will be available in all major retail stores in Europe and North America starting from August 28th 2020. Furthermore, the exclusive and limited SteelBook Edition and Collector's Edition are available only at Strictly Limited Games starting today. The digital editions can soon be ordered in the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation Store and will be released on July 9th 2020."

Here's what was said regarding the game in the press release.



"CrossCode is a retro-inspired 2D game that comes with a captivating sci-fi storyline and silky smooth physics. Magnificent worlds and a fast-paced combat system are combined with outstanding puzzle mechanics and lots of options for character growth. A strong main story and lots of side content allow you to spend up to 80 hours in the detailed, nostalgic pixel world.

CrossCode is set in the distant future, where you follow a player named Lea. Lea logs into a fictional MMO called CrossWorlds. Lea suffers from memory loss and is mute. The path to regain Lea’s memory is to play CrossWorlds, discover all the game locations and meet other players. Bit by bit as Lea’s memory returns, the mystery surrounding CrossWorlds will unravel - and you will discover why a mute player is stuck in this game in the first place.

CrossCode had seven years of community-driven development behind its creation and was hugely anticipated by a strong fanbase before its successful release on Steam.

Rising From The Depths of Cancellation!

Originally planned for the SEGA System 18 Arcade hardware way back in 1992 by Wonderboy developer Westone. It was later cancelled due to the popularity of fighters and 3D arcade games that were immensely popular in that time period, as a result SEGA lost confidence in the potential of the game becoming all that successful.

An interesting fact is that despite the fact that most of the audio-visual files weren't salvageable it will be an extremely faithful recreation of the original arcade game thanks to the fact that Strictly Limited Games and ININ games hiring most of the original team who worked on the ill-fated arcade game.



The game is scheduled to release in 2020 on current consoles so we suspect a Switch and PS4 version are quite likely. The game will receive both a digital and physical release so don't worry about the game being a collector's item as there will be a way for everyone to enjoy this amazing looking retro gem!

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends' release date for Americas has been announced at last and you won't have to wait much longer as the game is releasing physically and digitally as a Switch exclusive in the region on March 31st 2020!

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is the latest game in the popular Bubble Bobble series and includes a 4-player co-op mode for some fun with your friends. Players can also acquire special skills by collecting letter bubbles that form the word "extend" that add a layer of strategic depth and replayability to the game. The release date of the upcoming PS4 and Switch JRPG Fairy Tail has been announced by PlayStation's European YouTube channel! The game will be releasing in the already packed month of March which seems like very bad timing with the likes of Final Fantasy VII Remake releasing less than three weeks before Fairy Tail's March 19th release date, but we're thoroughly looking forward to playing the game next year!

SEGA Does What Nintendon't!

According to several dataminers who thoroughly checked the Wii U eShop for a potential shutdown date have apparently uncovered new placeholders for every single Sega Genesis and Sega Master System game that's available on the Wii Shop Channel hidden in its data leading to the speculation that these games could be added to the Wii U eShop ahead of the Wii Shop Channel's closure!

This may or may not pan out as such take this with an incredibly large amount of salt. Also since the site in question can't be linked to by outside sources this seems a little sketchy. Regardless we reported it since we thought this was a rather interesting read.

It's the end of the month once again, which means it's time to find out what free goodies Sony will be offering on PS+ next Tuesday! This upcoming month is rather odd as NA and EU's lineups are somewhat different which is a first for the service. Without further ado here's May's PS+ lineup:

North America will be getting Abzu (PS4) while Europe will receive Alienation (PS4).

The rest of the lineup is the same for both regions:

In the early 1990s the Nintendo Power magazine published a series of comics featuring Mario and Luigi inspired by the now-classic game Super Mario World. Now the collection of said comics is coming in graphic novel form and will publish on October 12th 2016. If you're a fan of these comics, it should be worth the $14.99 it costs (and right now it's only $10.59!)

Hey there PlayStation gamers, Bre here with another PlayStation Update to brighten up your day. The newest news that has been sent to me is that Sony is rethinking their stance on rather they want controllers such as the “Move” and/or the newly announced aim controller to the PS4 VR effects. The torn comes when most gamers say they rather them use the dual shock 4 instead of these other two controller options. Though Sony is saying now that only certain games will require the move or aim controller.

I guess I can see why they would need them involved for some games, because things such as “Just Dance” require something to be able to pick up your bodies’ exact movements for the game. Though at the same time I can see why gamers would not want this as a part of games, because it gives the gamer more freedom in movement without having to worry about holding anything to play the game. As for what will happen and what games this will be held to, only time will tell us gamers.

Graphite Lab's upcoming sci-fi action-shooter Hive Jump will not include online multiplayer in the Wii U version of the game according to an interview with the developer at the Fragments of Silicon podcast. Here's a small fragment of the interview:

Interview Overview wrote:“That’s something where we felt like the platform certainly is kind of a party platform. We love playing games on Wii U in kind of party mode. So we don’t have online in the plans for Wii U, but it will be for PC.”

The Wii U version of the game will still possess local four player co-op as well as Wii U exclusive features such as using the Gamepad as a map, Off-TV-Play and eventual Amiibo support! We'll let you know even more about the game as new details become available!

Thomas Happ Games has announced that their critically acclaimed Metroidvania title Axiom Verge will be hitting the Wii U eShop later this year, with a N3DS version following at a later date! Here's a brief overview of the game:

Game Overview wrote:Axiom Verge is a retro-style action-platform-exploration game done in a 16-bit style and was heavily influenced by games like Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and other classics, but with very modern design sensibilities.

It also gives you power over glitches like those found in classic games, allowing you to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and enter hidden areas as you explore this hostile alien world and uncover your role within it.

Crystalline Green and Drop Dead Interactive have teamed up to bring the rage-inducing arcade-style indie title Gear Gauntlet to Wii U! The game is a maze-like arcade game where players must avoid obstacles and other hazards and did we mention just how rage-inducing the game can be? It looks like the game will be hitting the Wii U eShop later this year!

Mixed Bag Games has announced that their upcoming Starfox inspired Wii U eShop pseudo 3D on-the-rails shooter Futuridium is being sent to Nintendo's QA as early as next week and might be released as soon as April of this year!

The #N3DS version will take a bit more. Game runs great and is fully playable from start to end, but some Unity bugs need to be ironed out

Two Tribes has officially announced that they're departing the game development industry and that their upcoming multi-platform side-scrolling shooter Rive will be releasing in September as the studios' final title. The game will also be hitting the Wii U eShop in September. Here's the reason why the crew over at Two Tribes is calling it quits:

As said, we've been working in the games industry since early 2000, making us dinosaurs, old farts, grandfathers or whatever you want to call us. This is great, because we've got a lot experience, but it also means that we act like a typical grandfather: slow and totally unaware of what is hot and what is not.

Don't get us wrong: we absolutely love making games, and we strongly feel that we're good at making them. However, ask us anything about new industry developments, and often a big question mark will appear above our heads.

For example, we are used to working with our own proprietary engine. It's technology that works great for us, but is by no means competitive with tools like Unity or the Unreal Engine. And then there are monetization strategies like free-to-play. We only know, and feel comfortable working with, the traditional model of full-priced games.

The same goes for marketing: we know how to make a decent trailer and send out a press release… but have no clue how to get traction on YouTube and Twitch.

Wrapping up:

Long story short (grandfathers like to digress!): when running a company, you need to be on top of your game, not just in terms of the product you're making, but business-wise too. And we just aren't on top of the games business anymore.

Therefore, it makes sense to focus our attention elsewhere, perhaps even outside the games industry. We simply don't know yet; but we do know that RIVE is going to be our parting gift to you and we're making damn sure it's going to be an awesome one!

It's such a shame that such a longtime competitor in the indie scene is calling it quits, but such is life, we wholeheartedly wish their team the best in their future endeavors!

Aksys Games has announced that the developer Look At My Games' platforming action-RPG, Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus will be hitting the Wii U eShop on March 31st of this year! Here's the official detailed overview of the game:

Renegade Kid's, Jools Watsham recently announced that his upcoming Wii U and 3DS eShop title Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge, which is a super challenging follow-up of his ever popular Mutant Mudds title that put his studio on the map, will be hitting the eShop next Thursday! Here's some of the official release details regarding the game:

★ Release Date: March 17th (North America, Europe, and Australia)

★ Price: $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99

★ Cross-buy: Buy on Wii U and get 3DS free, and vice versa

Nintendo of Japan has announced that their mobile social media app Miitomo will be launching in the region on March 17th! We'll be sure to let you know more information regarding the app itself once it releases in Japan and we have a better understanding of how the app will work!

A Whole New Website?

Most of you are likely noticing that I've been pretty much the only staff member writing news stories lately due to most of the other staff members leaving or becoming too busy to write articles with the except for our European reviewer @SKTTR. So the question is, should I shift focus to exclusive content or continue doing a combination of news articles and exclusive features?

The fact of the matter is that if I continue to focus on news articles, I'll constantly fall behind on reviews and it'll not only slow our exclusive content down to a trickle but will also hurt the developers who send us review codes by making us unable to publish the reviews right at or immediately after the launch of the games.

Note that this would only last as long as it takes us to find a dedicated news anchor for our website and also wouldn't affect any news stories that the game developers actually reveal to us specifically on Twitter or our contact form. Also a few key articles such as My Nintendo details and hardware reveals etc. would still be published, but most software related news that isn't brought to our attention by developers or via. news tips will likely go unpublished in this scenario.

Reviews on the other hand would likely increase to 4-5 a week just from myself along with 1-2 developer's interviews per week, and 3-4 other exclusive features a week.
