In a surprise announcement Nintendo has released Gameboy/Gameboy Advance games on the NSO service. The Gameboy games appear to have the GBC enhancements as well as color filters and are available to all NSO subscribers, whereas the Gameboy Advance games are exclusive to NSO + Expansion subscribers.

Here's the full list of currently available Gameboy games on NSO:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX.
  • Tetris.
  • Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
  • Gargoyle's Quest.
  • Game & Watch Gallery 3.
  • Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare.
  • Metroid II: Return of Samus.
  • Wario Land 3.
  • Kirby's Dreamland.


Here's the list of currently confirmed upcoming Gameboy games for the service:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
  • Pokemon Trading Card Game.
  • Kirby Tilt & Tumble.


And here's the currently available lineup of Gameboy Advance games on the NSO + Expansion service:

  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (With e-Reader content).
  • WarioWare, Inc: Mega Microgame$.
  • Kuru Kuru Kururin.
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.


And lastly here are the currently announced upcoming Gameboy Advance games coming to the NSO + Expansion service:

  • Metroid Fusion.
  • Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
  • Fire Emblem.
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.
  • Golden Sun.


These games also include local and online multiplayer unlike their Wii U & 3DS Virtual Console counterparts "GB 2-Players" & "GBA 4-Players max depending on software". @KokorOtaku Likewise. I wonder if they’ll have online multiplayer with friends, though if they’re cross-compatible with the Stadium games, it makes sense for those to be the online battle option.
