Pokémon Emerald (GBA) Discussion!

I caught a male wild Zubat and named him Batman.
Just delivered the letter to Steven in Dewford without even defeating the gym leader Brawny!

I just beat the 4th and 5th gym leaders and also caught new Pokémon including a Skarmory!

Try and find two Spinda whose spots are completely identical.

Wait there are different Spinda sprites?

Yep. Each Spinda has a completely different spot pattern, so no two Spinda look alike.

The elite 4 are quite difficult to beat in Emerald lol.

I found Phoebe to be quite tough since almost all her Pokemon are only weak against Ghost- and Dark-type moves, which are uncommon types. Also, her Sableye has no weaknesses.

YES!!!! Inever played emerald but they were tough in Ruby and Sapphire.

I never thought RSE elite for was hard, I personally thing B/W2 are harder

I actually found the B2W2 Elite Four to be quite easy, defeating them the first time through.

Never found the Elite Four to be terribly challenging in any region except perhaps 4th gen's Sinnoh. That one may have had more to do with monetary preparation. So long as you have three or four reasonably diverse Pokemon at reasonable levels and some healing items, it's fairly straightforward.

Same, completely abandoned the game once I picked up the console. So much for completing the regional 'dex.

Going sorta-onff-topic, I started playing through Pokemon Sapphire. I beat Brawly today, a piece of cake with my Sableye and Ralts.

Why is the optional battle against Deoxys so difficult?
I can't catch it no matter how low its hp is or how many status ailments it is suffering from.

It's because he's a legendary Pokemon.

gotta make the legendary battles hard. Its more worth it and rewarding when you catch em,

Emerald has every Pokemon in the first three generations, but not all are able to be caught in the game.

I'm really wishing these 3 games would come to the 3DS VC

Has anyone around here caught a shiny Deoxys or Lugia in Pokemon Emerald?

I'm struggling a bit. My Pokémon are roughly Lv. 25, I need to train them for the battle against Gym Leader Dad, but I've battled every Trainer in the game so far, with no way yet to re-battle any of them! Does this mean I'll have to grind them non-stop before I can Tackle the fifth Gym, or is there an alternate way I can train up my Pokémon until they're fighting fit?

I guess so. To be honest I wouldn't mind trying out the game as May for a change since she is the main character of the Pokémon Advanced anime and the representative for Pokémon Sapphire in the Pocket Monsters Special manga. Plus, I could play as Brendan in Ruby and May in Sapphire.

On another note, I found a copy of Pokémon Emerald on eBay with no bids! Maybe I should go for it?

If you think the copy is legitimate, I'd recommend going for it. I quite enjoyed Emerald. That said, you're probably aware of the obscene amount of illegitimate Game Boy Advance game copies on eBay, so just a reminder to avoid sellers from places like Hong Kong unless there is a product image that shows the cartridge and all. Be wary of the other countries as well and just generally opt for the ones with the most "real" looking information.
