A Videogame Discussion: It’s not just Mario that’s deciding Digital Retail’s fate - Page 1 HfZb1NppgOXt8ID7B9b9rMrAcBn8py0R
Clearly Nintendo is bribing Mario

Whenever there is a discussion with digital retail on the Nintendo 3DS, it’s always involves New Super Mario Bros 2. It’s understandable since the plumber’s upcoming adventure will be the first for Nintendo to be release their games both in retail stores and eShop download simultaneously. There is already an advantage and disadvantage on the decision to download New Super Mario Bros 2. The advantage is receiving 100 Club Nintendo coins when downloading within the first month of its release and no need to swap cartridge for continuing on reaching the 1 million goal. The disadvantage is the unchanged price tag (or very little price change including tax) and more cautiousness with your 3DS account.

Personally, I don’t think we should decide on whether to be on board with digital retail purchases or not depending on the decisions involving New Super Mario Bros 2. Eventually, previous first-party releases will be available on the Nintendo eShop and I can think of one title that will really help a clear understanding on Nintendo’s digital strategy on digital retail.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Justifying the exact price tag with only difference between physical and digital retail is that digital is instantly available on the system is no longer the case with Kid Icarus: Uprising. It’s not just the box, two-thirds of the full package is also missing when just downloading Kid Icarus: Uprising, the 6 AR Cards and the 3DS Stand that are feature in every copy in new condition. For those that don’t own the game yet and have the option to download it from the Nintendo eShop may not want to. If the digital retail price for Kid Icarus: Uprising is the exact price as the retail package, the elective scale will be unbalance, favoring the retail package just for the inclusion of a training wheel if necessary and the interest in digital retail purchases will decline.

The solution with digital arrival of Kid Icarus: Uprising

Nintendo should definitely consider lowering the price for Kid Icarus: Uprising on the Nintendo eShop since this digital retail doesn’t contain the full package, literally. Whether to pay Kid Icarus: Uprising full price for a full package or paying less for just the game is an equal understanding for both retail stores and Nintendo’s digital strategy.

Will it be New Super Mario Bros 2 or Kid Icarus: Uprising deciding your fate with the consideration on digital retail and Nintendo’s trust on their digital strategy? Are there other first party 3DS titles that you want a logical price for their digital alternation? Leave your welcoming thoughts on the comment section below.
