I bought one of the new non backwards compatible Wii's about 5 months ago because my old black model Wii could no longer read dual layered discs, but unfortunately it broke down just the other day with my copy of Xenoblade still inside.
This isn't the first time this new model Wii has broke down on me either. The first time was in March and it happened again in April, so it may be a good idea to avoid purchasing the non backwards compatible Wii's if you can.
I dare say that the new model Wii just might have a higher rate of failure then the original model PS2's and even the older models of Xbox 360.
Edit: Unbelievable I managed to get my Wii's power on just long enough to eject Xenoblade Chronicles and out of curiosity I popped it into my older Wii that doesn't run dual layered discs and guess what! Xenoblade actually loaded, so I'll be away today to finish my draft review before my old Wii stops reading Xenoblade.
