I'd say the graphics in both games are of comparable quality, but I think the character models were more detailed and better animated in The Last Story for the most part... for the price of minor framerate dropping in lively places.

But getting away from the tech and to the arts... then it's hard to say. You know, Xeno has those huge fantastic landscapes and tons of equipment to change your character appearance and for me it's sort of a steampunk sci-fi style. The Last Story is different as it's an Europe-influenced medieval fantasy style.
For me the main city in The Last Story is a real graphic highlight just as much as the Makna Forest in Xenoblade.

Will the online matches be region locked or will Europeans and Americans be able to play together?

I email to XSEED Games about whether The Last Story will be in dual-layer disc or not.

XSEED Games confirms that it is a dual-layer disc:

"Don't think we've ever been asked that before, but yes, it is one of a very select few Wii dual-layer games in North America."

Make sure that your Wii system can still play Dual-layer Wii games before purchasing The Last Story on Tuesday.

Xenoblade still works on my launch Wii that can't read other dual layered games.
