Fledgeling Bird!
An article from Eurogamer about EA sports time with the Wii U dev kits
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-07-27-ea-wii-u-can-do-anything-ps3-360-can

A large question lingers around what the online capabilities of Wii U will be. Wilson wouldn't say whether new dev kits reveal more online Wii U functionality, but did highlight an "openness and willingness" by Nintendo to listen to their developer and publisher partners.

There are people at EA "under very strict NDAs" that are working those online Wii U systems out with Nintendo.

"[Online is] something that we're working very closely with Nintendo on," said Wilson. "We are highlighting to them what we believe are the most important elements to that infrastructure to deliver a connected experience that we think is the future of gaming.the Wii U efforts.

"They have demonstrated an openness and willingness to work with us and work with developers that I think will only land us in a positive place.

"We're working through the development with them now," he added. "We have a series of people who are under very strict NDAs as you can imagine, operating with them, building that system out."

Take note that during E3 EA had been rumored to working closely with Nintendo on the Wii U's online system.

then today Peter moore talked about the Wii U in a Reuters interview.

Back in June, everyone was talking about the Wii U, Nintendo’s first video game console with high-definition graphics unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.

Since then, no one’s heard much more about Wii U, which has a tablet screen for a controller and can be used in conjunction with Wii remotes. Nintendo must be hunkering down to put the finishing touches on it before it hits stores sometime next year.

But Peter Moore, the video game industry veteran who was promoted to be Electronic Arts’ chief operating officer in August, told Reuters this week that everything appears to be on track with the Wii U, at least from his perspective working for a publisher making games for it.

“There are no indications that there’s anything that feels like it’s off target,” Moore said. Nintendo’s stock has taken a beating in recent months and its share price is approaching its low for the year.

Moore said he will be visiting Nintendo’s hometown of Kyoto next week to check on how the console is shaping up.

“From our perspective right now, specs are a big deal,” he said, adding that during his trip, he will looking to find out more about the gadget’s graphic and computer processing units, its price and when it might be shipped.

Moore, who has experience launching consoles from his days at Microsoft, says Nintendo was smart to incorporate a tablet into the console with the Wii U.

“No one thinks its going to replace an iPad 2 but it is playing into what a consumer feels comfortable with,” Moore said.

In the past, publishers have backed away from dedicating too much content to Nintendo platforms, since the Japanese company tended to use its consoles to push its own software titles. But make no mistake, EA is on board with the Wii U, Moore said.

“Our teams are working on it around the world. Our key franchises will be there. We’ve made that commitment to Nintendo.”

I know i might be getting ahead of myself but EA already had Dev kits,so why would Peter Moore be going to Kyoto. Even with how quiet nintendo has been about the Wii U if this was a big Dev gathering details would have leaked. So either Moore is gunning for a Job or something bigger is going down.

How did I not See this thread.

This is actually very intresting, cause Nintendo With the WiiU is trying to have stronger third party support.
As cool as this sounds though. It may not be true. partnering up with EA or anyother company is not nintendos style.

Despite the fact that they did with Team Ninja with Other M

If you count something like Metroid Other M as a team-up, then Nintendo is surprisingly into teamwork. For example, Sega worked on F-Zero GX, Capcom worked on at least three main-series Zelda games, and a significant chunk of Nintendo's less-known franchises are partnerships with third parties or second party developers it purchased.

Heck, Nintendo got with Namco and Sega to create arcade hardware called the "Triforce". The company also tried to create the SNES CD add-on with Sony, but we know what became of that (guess I proved your point with that one lol).

Anyway, it's for these reasons that I can see the EA partnership becoming a reality. No, I wouldn't call it likely, but it's definitely a possibility in my opinion.

"A possibility" is all I am saying right now. But not "definate" WiiU may be powered by EA Origin but IF it is Nintendo is goona be extremely strict with it. They are gonna Want some form of control. And IF that happens I see a massive problem. You really think Ninty is gonna want someone else to be in control of thier online.

Also Dont you find it Odd that most of these Nintendo Team-ups have mostly been with just Japanese developers.

Yeah, that's true. It's much more difficult to think of western, European, Aussie, etc. developers that Nintendo has partnered with. Even then it's a stretch since most of them are internal studios or ones that got bought out.

The East and West do business VERY differently. Thats why we need Nintendo of America to handle these "team-ups" with western Developers. This would go alot moe smoother.
